Antique staurolite Fairy cross capped with 14k gold-filled end caps, and a gold-filled chain.
This natural gemstone formation is found in only a few places, and specimens of this quality are extremely rare. The chain does not appear to be original. This might have been a Victorian watch fob at one point. The ring that a chain would go through is a replacement, and appears to be a white metal. There are several natural divots on the cross, but they are part of the natural formation, and it doesn't take away from the beauty of this little gem. Chain is marked "1/20 12k GF."
It is a large size, at 20.93 mm x 18.44 mm, not including the bale on top.
I have only ever seen a few other pieces like this exceptional piece. It is by far the most beautiful one I have ever seen, its got a lovely color and depth. Box is included, but is not the original box.
Fairy crosses are said to bring good luck, and they are a sure way to bring nature close to your heart!
